Leave a plan with someone
Write down where you are going, when you will be back, and who to call if you are not. Give it to a friend and to your host.
Someone should always know where you are. That someone does not have to be the internet.
Know what the stay provides
Every stay we list includes solo notes: landlines, radios, check-in routines, host distance. Read them before you go.
Carry a backup, keep it off
A satellite messenger in the bottom of your pack is not cheating. It is the reason you can forget about everything else.
